    What pesticide is in Seresto

Seresto is an insecticide collar used to repel and kill ticks, fleas, and lice on dogs and cats. The active ingredients in Seresto’s collar are imidacloprid and flumethrin. Imidacloprid is an insecticide from the family of neonicotinoid chemicals that work by binding to receptors in an insect’s nervous system, leading to paralysis and death due to respiratory failure. Flumethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid compound that works by disrupting the neurotransmitter functions of insects, also resulting in paralysis as well as death. Together, these two ingredients provide 8 months of protection against fleas and 4 months against ticks.

    Putting all together

Most flea and tick treatments contain chemical pesticides, but one of the active ingredients in Seresto is a compound called imidacloprid. Imidacloprid works to not only kill adult fleas and ticks, but also to keep any eggs from hatching once they’ve been laid on your pet’s fur. It can be applied directly to an animal’s skin and slowly releases over an 8-month period killing any flea or tick it comes into contact with. Imidacloprid is the main active ingredient found in Seresto collars which provides long-lasting flea and tick protection for your pets.
